BRIGHTON - Pier

Went onto the pier to take the 2nd photo and promptly got ticking off from the burley gatesman who kindly informed me it was not open for business 'til 9am. So I told him I was from the local rag and he let me fire a few off!

Well done and you got away with some fabulous shots... Share us a tip ! Sat 1-Oct-2005 08:26

Couldn't you just tell him to bugger off in a great British accent...? No, I guess that wouldn't work where EVERYBODY has a British accent, would it now? Tue 4-Oct-2005 05:21

BRIGHTON

Went down to Brighton on the South Coast to spend a few days and visit family. Still sorting through all the pictures but here's a start!

Took this bleary eyed on the morning after the night before. Woke up with the sun (I can never sleep late when I've had a few sherberts - really annoying) and decided to get out and take some pictures early doors. Left a note for the missus and off I went!

I like # 2 and # 3. They give me the feeling of a happy day out! Wed 28-Sep-2005 08:18

Sure, your fotos are nice, but since you wanna talk about cars....
We have had our 2002 ZX5 since new, and it's been great! It came fully equipped, but with no options. For that model year, that means cruise control, power locks and windows, power steering, A/C, better Z-Tec engine, 16" wheels with hotter tires.... We got a five-speed, but opted out of the ABS and traction control. Also standard was the 6-disc CD player, 60/40 folding rear seat, driving lights. Only gripe: a seam in the fabric rear seat has come apart twice.
I read a lot of car mags, including Focus Fanatic when it is published, and it seems that the Focus chassis is set up very well from the factory. Hardly any mods are done to the chassis or suspension unless really going full-race.
The engine (since replaced with an even better one in newer models) is great, too. The transmission shifter is balky, just as in every other economy car, but is easily upgraded with any number of aftermarket suppliers out there.
Ours has 37,000 miles on it now. The tires are only half worn and it runs and feels great. We have only had the gas cap replaced with a modified version right after we got the car since the original wouldn't hold the tank pressure (many cars have pressurized fuel tanks -- ours would cause a Check Engine light).
Also, it does great burnouts in first gear and chirps the tires a bit with a bangin' upshift into second! My favorite part of the car is the suspension and chassis. It handles and rides very well.
Our family of five can take it on modest trips. Four adults would be the max for comfort. One thing, though, is that there is a lot of room in the rear, even with the driver's seat fully back. I like the Euro look of the five door hatchback ZX5. It also holds just about as much as a wagon, especially when the cargo cover is (easily) removed and / or the seats are laid (nearly) flat. I also put a double-walled stainless steel exhaust tip on the pipe under the rear bumper. Eighteen bucks or something like that. For me, it makes the back end look even better. I also put a couple of reflectors alongside the license plate in the recess to help break up that big flat panel that is the hatch.
Would I buy another one? Yes.
